  1. Hi Gary. If when you've covered a little more of this course and feel more confident, if you want to do a bit of on-line fingerspelling practise I'd be happy to give it a go. I'm nearly through this course but i'm just recapping everything before I do the final assessment. I need more practise myself as I tend to forget if I don't use it regularly. Thanks. David67. (nearly 68 lol))
  2. Hello. Thank you for your reply. Yes, it does make sense to use BSL for the reason you said. I was just thinking for day to day occasional use and trying to remember both ways. I think I'll also ask my two friends what they think and go from there. Thanks again. David.
  3. Hello all. I'm hearing but I'm learning this because I've wanted to do it for years. I'm retired but have a part-time job in a shop and have two regular deaf customers who help me with learning bits and pieces. I've just completed level 9 of this course and really need to get some practice in. Can I ask, whilst communicating with others at this level, should I be using SSE or BSL. My friends/customers seem to use SSE whilst talking to me, but BSL when talking to each other. SSE is much easier to understand I find.....What would you suggest please. Thanking you. David67
  4. Hi Andy. I'm 67 and I've just got to level 8 of this introduction course. I've thought about learning BSL for quite a while now. Loving it too. Good luck. David.
  5. Hi Sammi. Did you manage to find someone to practise with ? I'm on lesson 7 of the same course, although you've probably moved on quite a bit since then. I would like to find someone to do a bit of practise with if you're still wanting to to. I'm away next week but after that I'd be happy to give it a go. Regards. David.
  6. Hello all. Would someone be able to tell me if the signing that accompanies tv programmes, i.e. news channels etc, are signing SSE or BSL. Ive tried to follow them (I'm fairly new to learning) and although I can pick up some words, they don't always match what is being said. Thanking you in advance. David.
  7. Hello all. I retired last year and I now work part-time in a local hardware shop. We have several customers who are deaf and I would like to be able to communicate with them more easily. They know I've started doing this course and are very supportive, suggesting learn 'a bit at a time', which I intend to do. Look forward to communicating with you soon. Seems very scary at the moment!
