Hi everyone, I'm freya and I started learning BSL about a month ago. I've always thought that sign language was an important skill to learn.
In schools, children are taught French, German and Spanish. These are useful subjects, but I never understood why sign wasn't taught. My reasoning for this was because most people in my class may never travel or meet someone who speaks one of those languages. And that the probability of meeting a person who was Deaf/hard of hearing was much more likely. As well as also making the world a more inclusive and accessible place.
