Hi, I am Megan, 36 years old with three children. I wanted to learn sign language as I feel it is needed to improve inclusivity. I believe schools should have it in their curriculums, particularly with an increase of children with SEN attending mainstream school. I have worked with a non-verbal child myself and having another way to communicate would have been a fantastic addition to our working relationship. My daughter showed a keen interest to also learn BSL so we are testing each other each day and thoroughly enjoying this wonderful language.

I am a great believer in inclusivity and although we are a hearing family, I strongly believe all children should be having this as a subject in primary and secondary school. I also signed up to this course because I have a love of languages and this is one I feel very passionate about and thankfully my children have the same view. It is a true shame that the national curriculum does not include this language.
