I am a teacher in Malawi. My drama club is rehearsing “The Comedy of Errors” for a Shakespeare festival at the end of the month. A Deaf school is taking part so we had the idea of incorporating SSE into our performance to be inclusive. As I have wanted to learn Sign Language for a while now, I thought it was the best opportunity to get started.
As far as I know, Malawi’s uses a form of BSL. So I am doing the online course with British-Sign.
Several students have taken to it extremely well and I have been asked to start a Sign Language club next term.
Any advice on using BSL in a dramatic production would be appreciated.
