Hi everyone! My name is Grace, I live in Manchester, and I decided to learn BSL because it has been a goal of mine for a few years. As a GCSE student, we learn foreign languages but we don't learn the language we will possibly come across more often then French or Spanish. I've wanted to have a way to connect and have conversations with those who are deaf in some sort of way since I was in Year 8, especially to make new friends and include those who are isolated because of their condition! In this predicament, we all should try something new and try and help others, or become more knowledgeable about a subject like BSL. Quarantine has given me the chance to stop and learn this new and amazing language and I'm so glad I decided to take matters into my own hands and learn! Hopefully, in the future, I will be become a SEN teaching assistant or, if I'm feeling a bit more ambitious in college, a psychologist where I can use BSL in my field of work! For now though, I'm gonna keep my head down, get through my GCSEs and keep learning BSL for then!
