Hi, I'm Lauren and I am 16. I personally believe that it is always good to try something new and challenging everyday, and I thought that learning BSL would be an incredible skill to gain for the future once lockdown is over. I study A levels in Criminology, Art, and History at sixth form, and I have been unsure exactly on what career path to take for quite some time. I am particularly now interested in working specifically on a career that involves a Criminology degree, or possibly Psychology or Law if I am able to at university, so that I could either work in a role that involves the social control for crime or working as an active part of the government, i.e. the MI5. My sixth form has advised everyone to get involved in any online opportunities, due to work experience being cancelled for this year, so for me choosing to learn BSL has made me become more open-minded in learning the other ways for communicating with other people, which I think is vital in the society we have today. I feel that I have made the right choice to be a part of the online course as I feel that I am enjoying each lesson more and more as I progress further, and I am intrigued to see how much I have learnt once I have completed it.
