Laura Griffiths

Hi my name's Laura. I currently volunteer as an events assistant for the Jewellery Quarter Heritage Squad in Birmingham and they signposted this BSL to accompany one of their exhibitions called Silent History which explores the history of deaf, visually impaired and disabled workers in the Jewellery Quarter and wider Birmingham area. It will look at the representation and attitudes towards disability historically alongside contemporary views and stories. A lot of deaf people are expected to attend so as part of this they decided to train some of their events assistants in BSL so we can welcome everyone attending. Thanks for allowing me to join the group. I hope it assists with my BSL training.
