Hi there, Hope you are all enjoying learning to sign! Despite being diagnosed with a hearing impairment at age 13, with likelihood being I've had one since early childhood, I have never been given support to learn sign language as a supportive communication facility. I do wonder if this is because sign language is not something people know, so it wouldn't have been much help. It's why we need to all play a part in learning some sign. We don't know who we are going to meet who uses sign. You may even have children who you have to sign with. Learn language young, develop the skills and use it regularly - it will help create society more inclusive. Especially with these days of mask wearing where voices are muffled - perhaps this will be part of the changes we experience? I hope we can make it happen.
