I've always wanted to learn BSL, but I've never had the chance. I work as a front-line paramedic for an ambulance service with a large number of Deaf patients, and we currently interact using gestures and notes for more difficult situations. My workplace does not have a programme in place to teach me BSL as part of my preparation, and it is unacceptable that as paramedics, we are unable to interact with a significant number of our patients.
