Communication Support is a very diverse term and includes many different forms of communication. Book our Communication Services Deaf Action is an Agency registered with The Scottish Association of Sign Language Interpreters (SASLI). This means that we can be relied upon to operate to the highest technical and ethical standards. We have been providing a range of communication support since we were established in 1835, so we have gained a lot of experience in that time! All of our communication professionals must adhere to their registered body’s guidelines. Please view the codes of practice for SASLI http://www.sasli.co.uk/policies/code-of-conduct/ and NRCPD http://www.nrcpd.org.uk/code-of-conduct Why you may need Communication Services The Equality Act (2010) states the need for anyone offering services to the public to make reasonable adjustments to make these services accessible. This could be in recruitment, education or employment or enabling them to access the goods or services you provide. For deaf people, reasonable adjustments may include the provision of alternative ways to communicate, such as through using a BSL/English interpreter. People who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing face communication barriers on a daily basis which can, in turn, have a serious effect on their lives. Facing these barriers can lead to: a lack of confidence, isolation, unemployment, exclusion from society and depression. Many of these barriers can be removed by the provision of communication services.
