Introducing myself.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm Shelby. I'm 26 and I work in a museum. I learnt the finger spelling alphabet when I was 12 and have always wanted to learn BSL. I figured while we're on lock down, I need something to keep my brain busy, why not finally learn? Also turns out my 4 year old failed her hearing test ( we noticed some issues before that ) so although it might not be necessary, it never hurts to be preemptively learning something she might benefit from in the future.

I'm excited to be learning and will hopefully feel confident enough to practice with people more fluent sometime soon.

    • I love languages and work in Diversity and Inclusion work for an LGBT charity, and so wanted to combine my love of languages with being inclusive, which led me to sign language. I hope that I will be able to learn to sign clearly and well and that this skill will aid me in learning how to create inclusive spaces for Deaf and signing people.
