I’ve been learning BSL informally for two years as part of my job as a support worker.  Was about to begin formal training just before the lockdown happened so not sure if/when it will be now. My workplace only fund level one as the people we support have very basic communication. I plan to go all the way though with the aim of becoming an interpreter in the future.

So, in the meantime I am trying to get whatever experience I can. Particularly keen on developing my receptive language skills right now. The people I support have some very tricky to decipher signing because of their mental and physical disabilities but it’s like when only you can understand your own child speaking. I’m getting better all the time :)

      Hi  everyone, this is my first post on the forum.  I work as part of the Front of House Team in a theatre and I am interested in learning some sign language to be able to communicate more easily with the many members of the deaf community who come to the theatre. So far I am doing ok in the comfort of my own home but under pressure I get flustered.  Does anyone else find the same problem? I think a lot is down to constant repetition and practice.

      Hello everyone 🙂 I'm Layne. I am about to take my BSL202 and BSL203 at the start of next week 😬 I luckily passed BSL201 last week 😌 I am based in India so it is tricky to find people to practice with. If anyone is up super early in the UK and looking for someone to converse with I am 5.5 hours ahead so will be around! Thank you 🙏
