Why I'm learning BSL

Hi everyone! I'm Catherine and have just finished studying at Glasgow University. Sign language is something I always wanted to learn and now I have plenty of time to do it so I decided to sign up to an online course and am loving it! I feel sign language is such a great skill to learn because it can help you to be a more inclusive person and I think it is important to be aware of the means of communication in the deaf community. There is a man at my church who communicates using BSL and I always felt bad that I could only communicate very minimally with him so I wanted to learn BSL so that I can communicate better with him. My church has also been making an effort to start using BSL in some prayers and songs after we had a deaf ministry apprentice so I wanted to progress more with it and make the effort too. Very excited to continue on with it!
