Hello everyone. 

I am Rosie and am new to the BSL forum. I started learning BSL one month ago as I started seeing someone who was born deaf. He is unable to speak and lacks basic reading and writing skills and so sign language is his only way that he can communicate effectively with others. Before our first date, I practiced sign language for the first time and gave myself four days to learn the basics and then if things went well between us, I'd then commit to it. I loved his personality instantly and knew that I wanted to continue seeing him and so that's why I then committed myself to learning. Communication is challenging at times, but definitely easier than I'd expected and our relationship is so unique and special to me. I really want to practice and learn more sign language skills, so that I can communicate to the best of my ability with my partner and continue our happy relationship together. :)

      Hi my name is Emma and I am learning BSL from Australia. I have completed my Diploma of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and have started learning BSL. If anyone is not a complete beginner and would like to practice that would be great! Australia is approx 9 hours ahead of London time...so hopefully we can find a suitable time:)

      Hi, I am new to this forum. I am currently doing an online on-demand course along with a friend. I studied modern languages many years ago and am really interested to learn BSL - it is such an interesting and expressive language. I am also deaf in one ear (since early childhood) so am conscious that my hearing could worsen at some point.
