My name is Kaz Davies. I co-own and run a recording studio in Bristol, where I live. I have 3 children (eldest has moved out), a cat and a dog.

I am also a volunteer at The Hive in Bristol. I am bilingual and I have always found languages very interesting.

I started teaching myself BSL with videos online around April 2020. Though I have picked up bits of ASL & BSL when I was younger from friends, film and tv.

I finally registered for a BSL course this month and I am enjoying it very much! 

I have already tried some with my sister-in-law who has learning difficulties and she and her carer were very encouraging!

My husband also has otosclerosis in his family. He has the early signs and I believe that it is the right time to begin learning BSL for all of us in the family. Especially as I am also quite a slow learner but so far, so good!

I wish all the other newbies good luck with their course and assessments!

Hello. My name is Wiktoria, I come from Poland. Polish my native language. I currently go to university and study Sport and Exercise Science.

 

I always wanted to learn sign but didn’t know where to start. I have been learning for about 3 weeks now, and I am really enjoying it 😁 I actually found out about online British sign language courses through a girl (I cannot remember her name) on TikTok mentioning them. 
 

I have found that I am struggling signing without saying the words out loud. Does anyone else have this? Will this go away with more practice?

      Hi, I'm learning BSL at home as I think its important to be able to communicate with anyone I meet in my job in retail. I haven't had a chance to use any of my signs yet but am practising/revising them regularly so I don't forget! I really enjoyed watching the recent Channel 4 Paralympic coverage with BSL as it gave me a chance to practice watching a fast signer. Bye x

      Hi, I'm also wanting to do an epq in bsl. I can see you've not been active in a couple years but I'm giving anything a shot and praying you might see this. I'd appreciate it so much if you were able to help me if you did do your epq in bsl.   this is how i feel right now i can't find anyone who is doing bsl as an epq any help would be extremely appreciated, thanks

      Hello, my name is Zonya and I have been learning BSL for a couple of months now.  I am not deaf but work at a doctors surgery where we have very few deaf/Deaf patients but find it sad that there are so few non deaf./Deaf people that know BSL. I feel this should be a compulsory lesson at least once per week in all schools. I hope everyone is well.
