Hello folks

I'm Phil, started learning a couple of weeks ago and finding it fascinating and occasionally amusing. The sign for penguin had me in stitches! It made me think that there should be a word similar to onomatopoeia for when a sign looks like the thing it's representing, in the same way onomatopoeic words sound like what they represent.

I'm an out of work (due to long term health issues) history graduate who lives in Greater Manchester and volunteers at a foodbank so I at least do something worthwhile with my life despite the limitations my health puts on me.

      Hi everyone. Name me what, Jeff. I've been basic signing for about 10 years now after getting a basic lesson from the company that I used to work for. My aim now, is to become fully competent within BSL and gain a qualification, and then look for any kind of employment that relates to BSL.

      Hello everyone. I am incredibly new to BSL (I've had one class at introductory level so far but I intend to pursue). I am 48 and I am experiencing some hearing loss but really I want to learn to sign to give myself more communication options and to be able to communicate with as many people as I can.

      Hello! I am very new here and I would like recommendations of online BSL courses where I can learn online in the evening. Cost isn’t an issue but it needs to be money well spent.  For context, am a lifelong hearing aid wearer with no BSL knowledge apart from finger spelling the alphabet… slowly.    Thanks in advance.

      Hi there  Name we what - Michelle...I have a hearing loss and wear cross aids. Hearing is tricky in many situations such as shops, restaurants and busy places. I am learning BSL with my adult daughter, so that we can sign together when hearing is tough. It will definitely help in fitness classes where, with the air conditioning and music I can barely hear instructions.  We are looking to connect with others to help me learn and embed signs.       Name me what Lewis - I've just started and I'm loving it - such a beautiful language. I decided to learn BSL for no other reason than I liked the thought of it, plus it's a language spoken in our country, so seems strange to not know it. I am also starting to go deaf in one ear, so maybe there's some pre-emptive learning happening too in case I lose my hearing completely. Nice to be here.
