Hi everyone! I'm Leighann, although I am not deaf, I do have a severe speech impairment since I was 2. So, I was taught Makaton but sadly, it was rendered useless during school because no-one knew it, so, writing has been my main form of communication. However, I decided to learn BSL to enable me to teach my family, friends and now children so they don't necessarily need to ask me to write it or repeat myself, which is usually, at least, 4 times.

      Hello all, I'm a newbie to BSL, and looking forward to learning a new language.  I learned Makaton and was a teacher for children with SEN/D for a number of years. My grandmother taught me how to fingerspell when I was quite young- and its great to revise the skill. Brenna

      I am a student nurse and I feel I should know more than just spoken and written English. I would like to be able to communicate better with any patients I have in the future who use BSL themselves. My children get taught some signing at school so I should also be learning so I can help them learn further.
