Meeting someone new

Hi all,

I'm Alana (she/her). I met my partner in July who is hard of hearing. They wear hearing aids and can lip read me pretty well after only a few months but I am learning so we can fully communicate in all environments and also their hearing will get worse throughout their life so it is best to learn now. They are also learning so we are learning together! I never had to think about accessibility before I met them and I am very grateful that I get to learn about their experience. Meeting them has changed a lot for me, for the better! 

I am also a primary school teacher and feel like it is a great skill to have in this environment. I often teach my children signs to help me remember.
