I recently had a health scare due to some hearing loss, which even medical professionals are unsure why I have. I decided after this that I would learn BSL (something I have wanted to do for years but never got round to doing) because of this, but also because everyone has a right to be 'heard'. I find it disappointing that schools do not teach BSL, as there are many people who use it as their only language, and it is disheartening to know that not everyone can understand them. I am unsure how bad my hearing will get, and I want to learn BSL now just in case I lose my hearing entirely.
