I've been hard of hearing since I was 3, but I only got hearing aids at 18 years old. They changed my life and made me much more comfortable with my hearing difficulties. I've always wanted to learn BSL, but having little acknowledgement or support for my hearing loss made me feel as though I wasn't 'allowed' to learn it. Plus, nobody around me knows it. But I've decided just to learn anyway, and hopefully one day someone else around me will know it too because it would make communication so much easier.
