Hello, I am an ASL student

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My name is Courtney I am 31 years old Mother of 3 Boys. I am currently a student. I decided to learn ASL for a couple of reasons.

1. I have always thought Sign language was a very Beautiful Language since I was a little girl.

2. I am HOH and I am gradually losing my hearing.

3. I want to use my education to educate The Hearing world.

4. once I become Fluent, ASL will be my Primary Language.

Hi Annie,

I'm Nat and I'm trying to learn ASL! I have been teaching myself for about a year now so my vocabulary is limited, but I know enough to ask basic questions and have fingerspelling down and number 1 to 10. Please let me know if you are willing to tutor, chat, or just become friends!! Not only am I slowly losing my hearing but I also have an auditory processing disorder which makes hearing VERY difficult ( I  mainly rely on reading lips to hear).

My name is Gypsy I am losing my hearing and I am learning sign language to continue communicating. I understand that to become fluent in a language it is helpful to associate with people who use the language I hope this site will help in my objective.

    • I'm a senior at Suffolk University majoring in history.  I've just accepted a position at Boston College's history MA program.  I hope to specialize in Cold War history, and to be a history professor some day.  I came out as transgender my senior year of high school, and began living as a woman after graduating in 2011.   Two years ago I saw the film Shape of a Voice.  As a trans woman, I identified with the main character's feeling of loneliness.  I started learning ASL to help create a society that includes everyone, not just hearing people.  Perhaps I'll get a professorship at a deaf university some day.   I've often gone to lengths to educate others about the transgender community, and am willing to answer any questions you may have.  Feel free to message me.
    • Hi Courtney, are you available now? Or, when would be a good time? Thank you!
    • Hey my name is courtney! im looking for a signing buddy too. I would be more than happy to practice together!
    • Hi everyone, My name is Micky. I'm a beginning ASL student, and am going into ASL 3 for the Spring '19 quarter. I got into ASL because I had a Deaf friend back in grade school, and I felt bad that we couldn't communicate without an interpreter. I'm also hard of hearing myself, so I'd really like to learn more. I'd love to find people who want to chat and practice with me.
