Hi Heather, my name is Jessica. I am also learning asl, I am sorry to hear about you husband losing his hearing. I have 6 children with my 7th on the way. I'm texting myself as well so if you want someone to practice with I'm willing.

Hi ladies! I would suggest contacting your state's Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission. They will have a list of places that offer sign language classes. Also, you could ask them to post that you are looking for a mentor/teacher. They may know of someone in your area that could work with you. I would also suggest googling Bill Vicars. He is Deaf himself and holds a Doctorate of Education. He does sign lessons online. http://www.lifeprint.com/

I think it's great that you are both teaching yourselves! Keep it up!

    • Good afternoon. As many of us, I'm snooping around for online practice groups.  Unfortunately zoom / online works ideally for many of us, but as Covid wanes and groups are ending in favor of in-person, we are eager to hear about new groups (beyond those currently offered on Meetup.com (most of us belong to the main groups on there already)).  Sometimes opportunities are shared in smaller communities, so worth asking as our regular ones sadly decline.  It can be tricky with time zone differe
