Stack Exchange Proposal

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I guess some of you will know stackexchange.com

For those who don't: It's a website of Questions and Answers, working for sharing knowledge and where everything is community driven. It's divided by sites, each with a specialized topic.

Recently I realized there's no site within StackExchange for ASL. There is, though, for many other (oral) languages. It will probably help a lot spreading knowledge about ASL to create such site.

Here I post you the link to the proposal, in case you are interested to contribute in making it happen: https://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/118632/american-sign-language

PS: Note there's no personal gain for me of any kind. I don't work for StackExchange nor own the project.

I inspected the link it is a legit url, no signs of it being an affiliate link of any sort so I personally don't believe any profiteering would come of this. I'm new here but I think this is a great idea to spread the network of ASL; Allowing more to connect with each other. Thank you in my humble oppinion, this is a fantastic ideal.

    • Hello!! I'm Katie!
A long time ago, may be three years ago, I was involved in an interpreting program. But I realized that the program was not a good fit for me personally. I stepped down, transferred schools, and I actually just graduated from the University of Redlands in California. Now I want more practice with sign because my skills have suffered a lot from not practicing; it has been a long time since I've signed with anyone who also knows ASL. So I'm really excited to meet ASL students, Deaf,  and other members of the signing community.

      Thanks!!
    • I am a beginner and want to really learn this beautiful language. I'm taking ASL 1101. Would anyone like to help?
    • Hi my name is kori. I'm learning ASL so I'm a newbie that's eager to learn. I currently live in NM.
    • That is on, if you choose to earn from the I internet.  I am doing the same since there aren't any deaf people besides me anywhere near me so I stick to learning the ameri an sign language since from what I see is used mostly here, I think we can make a lot of progress practicing together. I'm on the beginners level still, I'm taking free online classes too and those help a lot. Would u like to practice with me?
