Hey everyone, my name is Brandon! I am a signing language interpreter major at Mt.SAC. I've been singing fluently for about 5-6 years, but still learning nevertheless. I met my first deaf boy when i was in elementary school. Back when i was a kid i didn't understand what deaf was. Overtime, his mother came in to teach us deaf culture and some signs to communicate with him. I loved learning different signs. My favorite sign were both TURTLE & SEA TURTLE. Unfortunately, down the line i had no one to practice with and forgot most of the signs. When i was growing up i would either pass by people that were signing or even meet deaf people and was afraid to sign anything else besides HELLO, SEA TURTLE, & TURTLE. Once i got into college, i decided to take an ASL class and loved it ever since.

    • Hello,  my name is LaDonn and I have been learning ASL over the past few years.  I have taken some local classes which were extremely helpful and I love making new friends.  I also study on my own using ASL dictionaries, watching videos and recently teaming up with a fellow ASL classmate to practice when we can.  So, I was thrilled to find this site where I can actually video chat with other signers and practice with voice off.  The best way to learn is by doing.   I would love to meet both beginners like me and experienced signers, too.
    • Hi!  My name is Kendal, and I am a college student currently enrolled in ASL II. Unfortunately, online spaces are the only way I can immerse myself in the Deaf community, which is the main reason I decided to make my account. Now, onto the interview help... For my midterm project, I am required to conduct a brief interview with a deaf person. If there is anyone who fits my single criteria and is willing to participate, please let me know!
    • Hi, my name is Triceta. I am 30 years old. I am Deaf, I lost my hearing in 2023, but I have been signing for 13 years, I took ASL in highschool and just continued signing. I immersed myself in the deaf community, wanting to learn more and to practice the skills I had. Fast forward to 2020, I started having double ear infections and kept complaining of the pain, but nothing was ever done. By the time I saw a doctor who would listen to me and consulted with an ENT specialist, my hearing had already diminished in both ears.
    • Thank so much!
