Hey Everyone. I'm a beginner studying asl. I have been in search of a practice buddy in the general area of Columbia SC. I am also willing to practice online with buddies as long as you have patience and are pretty good at starting new conversation so that I may learn different signs. This is where the patience comes in because with each sign I dont know it will have to be fingerspelled out for me. Some people get tired of always having to fingerspell things at a pace slow enough for me to understand. I know a good bit. Have been practicing for 3 mths but I still am limited on what I know. Would love practice buddies. Please let me know if anyone is interested.

      Hi everyone! I'm a hearing husband with a deaf wife, and I'm a retired electrician and safety instructor. I know some sign language, but I'm hoping this site will help me improve my skills and support others in our local fire department. Although there aren't many deaf people in my community, I have many deaf friends from different places. We always have a great time together, and they're wonderfully patient while teaching me new signs! I'm excited to be here, learn more, and connect with everyone.       My name is Leah and I started learning ASL to help people communicate where there are language barriers. For instance: I just started volunteering at a nature center and I hope that one day I'll be able to help someone connect there. I'm also applying for a job at my local YMCA for the Member Services desk. It would be great to help the deaf and hard of hearing community connect there also. I'm very excited about learning ASL. I love helping people. 😊

      I am taking my first class of ASL at a local community college.   I am hearing.  The teacher is Deaf and fantastic.   The language is beautiful.   I am learning because I have 3 neuro-divergent kids and I think this would be a good way to connect with them.
