  1. Hi Alice, SSE and BSL are completely different as you said, and without sounding horrible or putting you down. Many Deaf or HoH people don't like when SSE is used. BSL has its own structure that yes at first is hard to get your head aound but with a little help it will all fall into place. I have completed my Level 1 in BSL and am currently working towards my Level 2. I am more than happy to help you. If you wish we can start from the start, and work our way through everything I have been taught and go from there. There are video chat rooms on here that are good so that would help, if not I do have Skype also. Good luck.
  2. I'm currently working towards my Level 2 which I hope to have completed in September. I am more than happy to help anyone who wishes to go over any Level 1 work, or help as well if I can towards Level 2. I am free most nights other than a Thursday, as I have my BSL course that day. If anyone needs help just let me know and I can come onto the chat rooms, and help. Practise makes perfect.
  3. Hi Olivia, The best way to start to learn BSL is to learn the Alphabet (finger spell). Once you mastered that move onto the simple signs, hello, goodbye, how are you etc.. Just pick it up from there. There is lots of free videos on YouTube to help you along too. Although please do remember that each part of the United Kingdom may or may not have a different sign from somewhere 20 miles down the road, it's just like us having 'dialect' in English. If you need any help in getting started, don't hesitate to ask Chrisy
  4. Hi Loki, I am currently in the process of studying for my BSL Level 2, so I am more than happy to help you out with anything you are not familiar with or just need help on. Just remember that BSL has its own structure to its language, can be confusing to start but you get to pick up on it. YouTube is always a great way to learn and pick up new signs, although again just remember that there are variations of signs throughout the United Kingdom. Keep signing to the customers when they come in, they appreciate it more than you actually think. Chrisy
