  1. I have always been interested in Sign Language and I got more intrigued since I started working for the Interpretation&Translation Service NHS here in Edinburgh. We provide BSL Interpreters which are outsourced with an agency. And it would be great to get become involved more with Deaf people, the community workwise. I am attending an Introduction Course and continue with Level 1 in August. Level 2 and 3 at some point would be great if I can afford that. I found out that we have to pay the highest fees here for those courses in Scotland/if not the UK.
  2. Dear Wendy, I am attending a BSL INtroduction Course in Edinburgh and we have a girl who is 27 years old. She was diagnosed with a brain turmor at the age of 10 or so I think. She suffers from short term memory since then and she still catches up with basic signs and small talk. It helps her a lot to be filmed while she signs sentences or words and puts them together. Might be an idea for yourself, too.
  3. I am a beginner and find this quite useful I am fine fingerspelling myself but receptive skills are not really good. I am ok with the first few letters but if there are more than 6 letters I am lost, lol. Also I am German and not native to English language. I am fluent in English, though it is easier for me to read the word "George" for example and I know how to prounounce the name. But if words/names are fingerspelled to me, I find it (still) difficult to recognise them. I guess that I will improve by time.
  4. Hej guys, I am Annika from Edinburgh, 36 years old and have been learning with books and YT, BSL Watchzone since few months. Doing Introduction since beginning of Feb and going to continue with Level 1 in August. I am studying with a Deaf Tutor at Deaf Action. Would be awesome to find other people from Edinburgh to meet up with and to get help here, keen on doing L2 and eventually L3 in near future if I can afford that. Other than that I like my two cats, I work for an Interpretation Service at NHS, I enjoy walking though nature, Outlander and Star Trek conventions, upcycling and cooking/eating non cruelty food.
  5. Hi Alexis, I live in Edinburgh and a beginner, too. Happy to Skype or meet up if you are in Edinburgh some time.
  6. Hi Alexia, I am attending an Introduction Course here in Edinburgh and will continue in August with Level 1 If you want we can have some Skype conversation at the weekend. Cheers, Annika
  7. Hello to Japan. Quite interesting that you study Bsl in Japan; why not Japanese Sign Language? I am looking for Skye sessions, too. I have been attending an Introduction Course in Edinburgh and therefore we mainly learn Scottish signs. I want to continue with Level 1 in August and eventually L2 in Feb 2020, but it's very expensive :o
