Why I am learning BSL?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I am a final year dental student who will hope to start work in August time. I have started learning British Sign Language to enable me to communicate better with patients who use BLS as their first language! I think if all health professionals learnt this, our system could be much improved and patients can feel more comfortable when attending their doctor, dentist, nurse etc! Intrigued to hear everyone's thoughts on the website. Personally, I think the online course is fantastic and a great skill to learn during this global pandemic.

Hope everyone is well!

    • I love languages and work in Diversity and Inclusion work for an LGBT charity, and so wanted to combine my love of languages with being inclusive, which led me to sign language. I hope that I will be able to learn to sign clearly and well and that this skill will aid me in learning how to create inclusive spaces for Deaf and signing people.
