Jessica-louise Parfitt I'm a single mum to two young children so classes aren't an option for me at the moment so I'm doing it online which fits around them perfectly as I chose the time and day but I do miss out on learning from others as I just watch a short video clip and then have a 10 min skype tutorial each week. I'd like to be able to practice with others. I'm coming up for the 3 assessments so defo need the practice!!!!

well done completing your level 1 Lesley Silvester and good luck with your level 2.

I wish to take BSL classes. I live in America and obviously, ASL is the popular option around here 😝 -I am fluent in ASL.

I am glad to have found this forum as we can video chat! I definitely want to check out online classes though I may not be able to commit till this Fall.

I'm currently working towards my Level 2 which I hope to have completed in September. I am more than happy to help anyone who wishes to go over any Level 1 work, or help as well if I can towards Level 2. I am free most nights other than a Thursday, as I have my BSL course that day. If anyone needs help just let me know and I can come onto the chat rooms, and help.

Practise makes perfect.

    • I'm learning BSL so I can communicate with my friend and others. It's outrageous that we were never taught this at school so that we can communicate with D/deaf people. I hope to surprise my friend next time I see them. I'm a little worried that I don't pick things up fairly quickly but hopefully I can start to have a conversation with them when I next see them.
    • Hi I'm Ellie, I've just started learning sign language so I can communicate with a friend. I'm quite nervous that it will take me a while to pick things up but I'm ashamed we never learnt BSL in school and that I couldn't just communicate with my friend naturally.
    • I'm learning BSL because I have hearing loss and tinnitus due to meneieres disease and my hearing getting worse.  I originally took a level 1 course 25+ years ago as I had a friend who was profoundly deaf and a BSL teacher. Unfortunately we lost touch, but now I'm learning again
    • Hi, my name is Gareth and I'm new to this forum. Picking up learning BSL after taking a level 1 course 25+ years ago
    • Hi!! ive been learning BSL since I was 11 and when I went to uni I thought there would be a BSL society.... there was not, so im here instead
    • I'm autistic and, though I generally have little issue using spoken languages, I find myself looking for an alternative that might feel more comfortable and be more accessible to me during verbal shutdowns. Furthermore, BSL will allow me to connect with more people in the disabled community and other communities I am a part of, which I really value.
    • Hello! My name is Rowan and I use he/him pronouns. I'm currently completing an introductory course to British sign language. I've been wanting to learn for a while so I'm very excited!
