Work in disability policy

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I work in public policy analysis and development on issues relating to inclusion and social care. So, after trying to explain disability discrimination and the social model of disability to lots of people, making an effort to be more inclusive myself seems to follow on from that.

Aside from work, I have always been interested in sign language as an alternative way of communicating but haven't got around to learning BSL until now - I've done fingerspelling and odd bits of makaton before. I'm really enjoying the course 😀

    • I love languages and work in Diversity and Inclusion work for an LGBT charity, and so wanted to combine my love of languages with being inclusive, which led me to sign language. I hope that I will be able to learn to sign clearly and well and that this skill will aid me in learning how to create inclusive spaces for Deaf and signing people.
