clare.exe Posted October 12, 2020 Report Posted October 12, 2020 Hi all! I started this course after seeing a tweet by twitter user @jamesjoeboyle, who said: Quote Gentle reminder that the interpreter isn’t here because I’m deaf, the interpreter is here because you don’t sign. Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk. This really put things into perspective for me, so now I've started my journey to being more inclusive and learning a new language 😀 1
Ari Posted October 14, 2020 Report Posted October 14, 2020 Hi! Having just read your post, I'm thinking to myself that thats so true! 😆 Just goes to show how unadaptable we are as English speakers and how we take a simple ability (to speak) for granted 🤦♀️
clare.exe Posted October 15, 2020 Author Report Posted October 15, 2020 Yessssss 100%! For all I know this time next year anyone I know (myself included) could be deaf or have to sign - it seems wrong that most friends wouldn't have a way of communicating with them if that did happen
Lozzie Posted October 26, 2020 Report Posted October 26, 2020 Love this - what a twist on perception and so true. I wish BSL was taught in schools!
