Hello,

I am Mair.

Just a beginner at BSL but enjoying it....I am probably terrible at this but practice makes perfect I am sure!  Thought I'd post a little attempt at an intro (Mostly because when the BSL course said to introduce yourself I assumed it meant in BSL but I can see from everyone else it probably didn't....thought I'd set myself the challenge anyway!!)

I welcome feedback (But please don't just be like 'hey you're rubbish!!! - I am trying to learn and am brand new at it so anything I could do better or need to think about would be great!).

I am well aware I am not very good at this yet but it's like my first few days of trying to learn around other work so I think I'll get it soon!

About me...I work for a charity doing admin and also working with vulnerable families and children.

I actually learn't the BSL alphabet in 1996 when I was 17 and didn't know I remembered it until recently!

As I learn best by doing things and work well with my hands it seems that this is perfect for me because I can do it to learn it!

🙂

Happy 2021!

so after like 8 attempts of making a video and laughing at myself every time the audio has worked and the visual hasn't for some reason - so I don't know if it will post - if not sorry!

Hi Mair,

Not sure if you have received this message so sending again. ;)  I too had trouble with the video to start with. Sometimes it is the site. However if it is not this might help.

Click on the red button. When this changes to a blue square start to record your message. Click on the blue square to stop recording. Click on INSERT. Wait a couple of minutes until your video pops back on. Play and check it is what you want to send. press SUBMIT. good luck

    • Hi there! I'm Laila and I've just started a beginners course in BSL. I work in a nursery as a senco and one to one currently but hoping to move on to a different job role in a special school or a school setting. I've been fascinated by BSL for years now and I've finally decided to take the leap and start a course so here we are! I am already level 1, 2, 3 and soon to be level 4 trained in makaton in the new year but ive always loved watching people use BSL and even though I'm not deaf i still plan on signing as i speak to myself to ensure i dont forget any of it and i just find it fun to do anyway! I am a little suspicious of my hearing anyway as it isnt the best and i do have moments where i lose hearing in one of my ears for a few minutes at a time the longest being an hour and sometimes in both ears together so I'm looking into that but im so excited to finally be a BSL user and join this community
