Left and Right

Recommended Posts

My mathematical mind is generally happy with the idea that as the primary hand changes, everything about a sign is a mirror reflection.

But I worry about Left and Right. If these are reflected, they point to the right and left!

I have similar thoughts about East and West.

Are the signs absolutely always reversed for left-handed signers?

New to BSL and learning for no particular reason.

Hi Alan,

I am a left hand signer and when it comes to directions it is still the same your dominant hand points towards the direction and you confirm with mouthing the word "Left", while pointing to the left etc.

hope this helps!

You a get together is happening from 6pm on the 8th May and continuing daily (if I'm available) usual time is 7-9pm GMT until November-ish time. Come join in and learn together

Its been a bit hard to improve my signing skills as I can't drive and my closest learning centre can't be accessed without a car. However, I would love to improve my signing skills and would love to practice with peopl

I first learnt some sign language about 20 years ago (BSL Level 1 at evening classes at college), but then life got in the way so it's taken me a while to start again! I love how expressive BSL is, and am hoping to use it for a job in the future. The problem I have at the minute is that I'm learning online, because my nearest centre to learn in person is 40 miles away, so I have an online t
