Why I'm studying

Recommended Posts

I've worked in retail since I was 16 and the times when I'm serving a deaf person is really difficult, so I dread to think what life is like for them all the time. It's one of those things that I keep meaning to do, I did a bit of signing with my son when he was tiny - but that was SSE, so he had the structure for spoken English. Even just knowing some basic signs though had also helped at work, when a deaf person could lip read, but was beaming when I included some signs too, because I'd made the effort for her. That pushed me to pursue it further and I'm finding it really interesting.
