The Centre for Short Courses and CPD at St Mary's University is looking for a sign language tutor to design and deliver a programme of BSL classes in the new academic year. It would be ideal if the candidate could match our current format of language delivery - 1.5 hours on Monday and/or Wednesday evenings (Sep-Jan and Feb-Jun), in person on our beautiful Strawberry Hill campus - but there is flexibility around this. Please also note that we match every hour of teaching with an hour of preparation time.

      I am 85, in sheltered accommodation, and suffering from Giant cell arteritis which has damaged my auditory nerve,,and may make me completely deaf. I am therefore learning BSL and teaching all the carers who visit me basic signing,,and at least BSL alphabet.  Going well, but I needed to see other people signing well so that I can teach others. I enjoyed playing the game. Very helpful.

      Hello all, I'm a newbie to BSL, and looking forward to learning a new language.  I learned Makaton and was a teacher for children with SEN/D for a number of years. My grandmother taught me how to fingerspell when I was quite young- and its great to revise the skill. Brenna

      I am a student nurse and I feel I should know more than just spoken and written English. I would like to be able to communicate better with any patients I have in the future who use BSL themselves. My children get taught some signing at school so I should also be learning so I can help them learn further.

      Hi all! I know a few people who are deaf so  I signed up for a BSL course at my local center so I can communicate better with them. It's not easy! But love it
