HI

Sean.

Hi all I'm Sean just starting to learn BSL, I Keep hitting a snag as due to being ambidextrous I don't have a dominate hand when I'm signing and am unsure as to whether this will be an issue when trying to communicate with others ??

I am the same - When I asked cambsdeaf they suggested choose a hand (preferably the one you would write with the most)  apparently it can get confusing so better just to choose one.

I chose left  :) but now i think ive made it more difficult as everyone else seems to sign the opposite.

    • I have nothing to do with Deaf/deaf community, but my mum is a carer and had learnt some BSL as a part of that, it sparked an interest in me. I am SUCH a beginner but hope to improve using this site. For now I use Commanding Hands on Youtube to learn.
    • I'm an Access Officer at Pembrokeshire County Council; learning BSL is a natural part of understanding and working with part of our community, so I'm starting my BSL learning journey - I@m not a natural at languages, and have no close family of friends who use BSL so I think I might have to work quite hard at this - I hope I do ok!
