Why I am learning BSL?

I have decided to learn BSL, as I think it is so important to be able to communicate with and include others, as I can only imagine how isolating being deaf must be. As a child, I had mild hearing loss, and relied solely on lip reading. I find other methods of communication so interesting. Going into the medical world, I think it will be good to know, and it can also be applied to other minorities. For example, I myself, I am Autistic and sometimes find verbal communication overwhelming. We use other forms of communication more than we think.
