Why I'm Learning BSL

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm JD! I've wanted to learn BSL for a few years now, originally because while working in a museum, I was able to take part in some accessibility training to help Blind and Partially Sighted visitors around our museum. This made me more aware of accessibility within museum environments, and lead to my interest in learning BSL, to be able to communicate more easily with d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing visitors. I now work on an accessibility team in another job, and have been able to start to learn BSL, and also to help others in my team learn it! I'm excited to continue learning, both how to communicate in BSL, and more about the d/Deaf community.
