*** Research Participants Needed ***

Hello,

I am recruiting for participants to be involved in a research study regarding the experiences of students with hearing impairments at university and university practice towards inclusion.

I am conducting this study as the basis for the degree of BA Education at The University of East Anglia. This will take place under the supervision of Dr Rebecca Westrup at the University of East Anglia.

I am seeking current students OR graduates with hearing impairments to participate in one semi-structured interview with myself, prior to the 8th March 2019.
The interview is expected to take between 20-40 minutes and will be conducted at a suitable time and location, or via telephone/video-call.
Questions will be reflecting on your experience at university as a student with a hearing impairment.

If you know of anyone who may be interested in participating, please forward them my contact details so that I can provide further information.
Furthermore, an interpreter will be available, if requested in advance.

About me:

My name is Cat and I am studying for a degree in Education with the aim of completing a PhD.
I have been a member of my university BSL society for three years and held a committee position for one year.
I am a level 1 signer and wish to continue to practice and learn BSL to gain level 6!

      Hi I am Vicky.  I decided to do the introduction to sign language course mainly as learning a new skill that may be useful in the future. However I also work in education as a teacher so it may be useful if I ever work with students with hearing impairments.

      I have started this course to help learn the basic signs and conversation gestures, expressions and cues to help me with a future venture in teaching BSL. I currently teach in a primary school and have a sign teacher that comes in each week to teach my class. It has always been something I have been passionate/interested in and I have decided to just go for it to help me daily with my 2 little boys and also to use in my classroom.

      Hello everybody,  I am Aimee, 32, from Lancashire. I am currently on Maternity leave with my 11 week old little boy and have started this course as it is something I have always been interested in and am looking for a new adventure alongside my normal teaching job of teaching BSL. I am very excited to start this journey :)

      Hi, I'm chey. I'm looking for a study buddy with a fair amount of knowledge of BSL. I passed the introduction course here during covid, and I'm doing my level 1 (I think) at university.  I hope to hear some someone soon xx.

      Hiya! Originally I began looking into learning a few helpful signs and I tend to go nonverbal when upset or overstimulated in public/busy situations. I began to develop an interest in learning the language as a whole as I found the communication to be relaxing and fun to learn. I'm hoping to at some point be able to speak with people who use BSL as their primary language and to learn more about the community as a whole, as well! 🤗

      Hi am brand new to BSL and came into it from a strange way, my husband lost his sight in 2014 through illness and although he couldn't see anything he was still able to participate in all conversations and was still able to feel somewhat included in things going on. He unfortunately passed away in 2020 and I have been at a bit of a loss in what to do with myself and have recently witnessed a number of BSL users/interpreters in different scenarios and remembered the inclusivity my husband ha
