Job Title: Interpreting Booking Coordinator

Location: Central London

Salary: £26,900-£30,250 per annum

Accountable to: Head of Remark! Interpreting

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours a week (between the hours of 10am – 6pm)

About Remark! Interpreting

Remark! Interpreting is a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreting agency with a difference. We are Deaf-run, Deaf-led and we give back to the Deaf community. We have an expanding team of both in-house and freelance interpreters. We believe happy interpreters leads to increased customer satisfaction. 

 

We are looking to recruit an Interpreting Booking Coordinator to support the growing demands of the interpreting department and our excellent pool of interpreters.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

        Support the team to administrate all booking requests and enquiries

        Gather information for any interpreting requests

        Support the co-ordination of freelance interpreters and clients’ interpreting requests

        Liaising with customers and interpreters - forwarding and confirming all details

        Creation and maintenance of spreadsheets/lists containing all assignments

        Ensuring that all information is kept up to date

        Creation and distribution of confirmation forms

        Ensuring completion of relevant timesheets as well as adequate filing and distribution

        Updating of shared calendars

        Effective communication with team members

        Ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner

        Supporting the team of In-House BSL Interpreters with general admin tasks

 

Person specification:

Essential

        Possess good administration skills

        Be professional and calm under pressure

        Knowledge and experience of the Deaf community

        Ability to efficiently gather all information relevant to the various needs of assignments and understand the requirements of both customers and interpreters

        Excellent communication skills

        Excellent teamwork and organisation skills

        Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

        Ability to cope with workload, order and prioritise assignments

        Ability to produce accurate work to tight deadlines under pressure

        Capability of using own initiative, working both alone and within a team

        A genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service

 

Desirable

        BSL Level 2

    • I'm a student and I hope that taking BSL could help me communicate with clients in my future jobs as well as other Deaf people. It's also interesting to me to learn how BSL is similar or different to languages I am already familiar with. Also, I just think it looks cool!
    • I have been partially deaf since birth and learned some sign as a child but not enough to get by as an adult. I am very likely to lose my hearing entirely within the next few years and i already really struggle to communicate whenever there is any background noise. I am hoping using sign will take away some of the stress of trying to communicate in those situations. My husband is also going to learn.
