Why I’m learning BSL

I am learning as part of DofE as I believe it is a valuable skill that isn’t taught in school. I work as a waitress which means I interact with a lot of different people including those who are hard of hearing or part of the deaf community. I first decided that I wanted to learn when I served a table who were part of the deaf community and I couldn’t understand what they were trying to sign to me. This persuaded me to learn to enable me to communicate with my customers and others.
