Hello fellow signers,

I am looking for people to practice my BSL signing level 1 in and around the kingston area (KT1).

Something like a week night for an hour or so, in a pub or cafe.

Cheers Glen

    • I have had an interest in learning BSL for many years because I find it an interesting language which is helpful to include more people in society rather than exclude. I am neurodiverse and a kinaesthetic learner, so this is a functionally accessible language for me to (hopefully) learn, understand and implement. Alongside the D/deaf community for whom BSL is primarily created and used, I have seen some people find it useful in the Neurodiverse community for various reasons including nonverbal communication.  I think it's an exciting opportunity to be able to communicate with more people and learn about the D/deaf community and culture as well.
    • I'm Yasmin, I have wanted to learn BSL for a very long time. My first introduction to the language was way back when I was around 5 years old and we were taught how to sign our names in Rainbows! I always remembered how to do so afterwards. I've now finally come around to find the course and enjoying it so far. I'm neurodiverse and so as well as being able to comnunicate with the D/deaf community, BSL could come in handy for the Neurodiverse community since some people are nonverbal and can adopt BSL or SSE for communication needs, too.
    • My name is Jacquie and I live in Christchurch, Bournemouth.  I passed my BSL level 1 two years ago and I am now (hoping) to recall and improve my skills. Please contact me if you are an improver also looking for a practise buddy.  Many thanks🤗.  (Apologies for the video!  I was more than nervous putting this out there!!🤗)
    • Hello Eleonora, I have just joined this forum as I am looking to brush up on my BSL Level 1 skills (which I obtained in September 2024). I love in Bournemouth, so unfortunately can’t meet in person, but would love the chance to practise with you via Zoom🤗. Kind regards, Jacquie

    • Hello! My name is Eleonora and I live in Scotland. I work in customer service and one of our regular customers is deaf. Wanting to communicate better with them gave me the needed push to finally learn BSL, which I've always been interested in (I'm also a translator and all languages fascinate me). I have only just started and I would love to have more opportunities to practice. If you're up for the occasional videochat (or a chat in person if you live in Edinburgh), I would love to practice with you! 😄 Ele 🍃
