Hi everyone!  My name is Wendy A.  I am a middle aged woman learning ASL and am eager to meet some other middle aged women also interested in learning and/or practicing ASL…nothing against all you young-uns!!  It’s just that it would be really fun to be able to laugh about some of the finer aspects of growing older as we practice signing together.  So, please, ladies, let’s connect!!!  There’s a great game called Marco Polo that makes it real easy to send and receive videos that you can watch at your own leisure.

I would be interested in signing with you. I am a middle aged woman learning ASL - I am taking a 201 class at this time. I would love all the practice I can get as I am on a trajectory to get a Proficiency Certification in ASL. Please let me know when you are available so we can start a Zoom practice chat!

Hi Teri!  Wonderful!!!  It would be great to practice signing with you!  So, I’m not too computer savvy and am actually not too sure of how this site works.  But, I’ve used zoom and FaceTime, so just need a little help getting started.  How do you and I start communicating privately?

Hello again, Teri!!  So I’ve had a little time to learn about this site and I realize we can do a video chat right on here and that, perhaps, was your intention!  I think it’s a GREAT idea!  We can get to know each other, a little bit.  I am busy in the morning and have a meeting around 4 p.m.   I can sign with you in the afternoon or in the evening/night.  Like you, I’m hoping to become proficient in ASL and I am SO EXCITED to get started practicing!! If you’re interested, let me know.  I can open a room and call it “Mid Age Ladies” and set it for 2 people.  How does that sound?

That sounds great! I am taking ASL201 right now and I meet for class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but am available the other nights of the week and weekends. Just doing a video chat and signing as we get to know each other is perfect. I too am striving for proficiency so the more we can practice the better. I have some time tomorrow (9-6) or Wednesday evening this coming week. Just let me know.

    • Hi! My name is Camille. I have a college assignment that requires me to interview anyone who wears cochlear implants, who are hard of hearing or is deaf. I'm hoping we can meet up or maybe set up a virtual meet, like facetime or maybe zoom? I know you're probably wondering why should you help such a random person like me? I don't know why but..I can assure you it's for a good cause. It's for educational purposes. Your time will be much appreciated. If you're interested, please email me
    • Hi Andie! I'm a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant. I'm also in school right now taking communications disorders and deaf education. I'm hoping to become an SLP someday. I have an assignment that requires me to meet people who are deaf, hard of hearing or are wearing cochlear implants. Would it be possible for me to interview Josh? I'm also learning ASL, I know some words but I rely heavily on fingerspelling. Please e-mail me if you're available.  My e-mail is [email protected]
    • Hello, I'm Kiara (hearing), currently a student in ASL- English Interpreting program. I'm enrolled in ASL 4. If you are in the EST time zone and looking for a partner, let me know.
    • Good Afternoon on this very cold, very snowy day in Southwestern Ontario! My name is Lisa & I'm a Day Program Coordinator for Adults with Exceptionalities. I support  a young man named Josh who is aaaaaamzing & I want to help him make meaningful connections with other people who have a hearing impairment. His ASL is quite good, but more than anything, I'd simply like him to socialize! He is very sweet, sensitive & likes to create his own signs sometimes vs  learning the proper ones!
