Hello - My name is Alan. I'm a retired counselor living in the Upper Left of the US (aka WA state). I was an interpreter at one time many years ago, left it to raise a family, work 2 jobs and drop off the "sign language" radar for a time. In the past 3 years I have discovered I have a hearing loss. I was diagnosed as hard of hearing and can notice when I wear my hearing aids and when I don't. I am getting back into signing more. My speed and ability to read sign have greatly diminished but I am here to regain that speed and accuracy. Am hoping to develop a greater vocabulary, too. Hope to meet some of you in the forums.

By the way, I am not on any social media of any sort. Due to the nature of the clients I worked with, it was best. I'm not trying to be Mr. Mysterious here, it's just that some of those individuals were not above seeking certain people out.

      Hi everyone! I'm a hearing husband with a deaf wife, and I'm a retired electrician and safety instructor. I know some sign language, but I'm hoping this site will help me improve my skills and support others in our local fire department. Although there aren't many deaf people in my community, I have many deaf friends from different places. We always have a great time together, and they're wonderfully patient while teaching me new signs! I'm excited to be here, learn more, and connect with everyone. Looking forward to being part of the community! geometry dash

      My name is Leah and I started learning ASL to help people communicate where there are language barriers. For instance: I just started volunteering at a nature center and I hope that one day I'll be able to help someone connect there. I'm also applying for a job at my local YMCA for the Member Services desk. It would be great to help the deaf and hard of hearing community connect there also. I'm very excited about learning ASL. I love helping people. 😊

      I am taking my first class of ASL at a local community college.   I am hearing.  The teacher is Deaf and fantastic.   The language is beautiful.   I am learning because I have 3 neuro-divergent kids and I think this would be a good way to connect with them.

      However, it tends to cover all aspects of the business curriculum in much greater depth. You get a formal degree qualification after spending a significant amount of time. Normally, it is more suitable for people seeking a comprehensive business education rather than for those focusing on and sharpening a single skill.
