Hi hello! I'm new to the forum. I was born hard of hearing, but only recently learned about the Deaf/HoH community and American Sign Language. I attend two schools and take ASL classes at my local community college. I love signing because it makes communication easier/enjoyable/understandable for me and I regularly attend Deaf socials/events because I enjoy making new friends. This summer, I took an amazing opportunity to study abroad for six months, but am now worried about not having the opportunity to retain everything I've learned thus far and feeling isolated again. Hence, I joined this forum. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better! Thanks!~

      My name is Leah and I started learning ASL to help people communicate where there are language barriers. For instance: I just started volunteering at a nature center and I hope that one day I'll be able to help someone connect there. I'm also applying for a job at my local YMCA for the Member Services desk. It would be great to help the deaf and hard of hearing community connect there also. I'm very excited about learning ASL. I love helping people. 😊

      I am taking my first class of ASL at a local community college.   I am hearing.  The teacher is Deaf and fantastic.   The language is beautiful.   I am learning because I have 3 neuro-divergent kids and I think this would be a good way to connect with them.

      However, it tends to cover all aspects of the business curriculum in much greater depth. You get a formal degree qualification after spending a significant amount of time. Normally, it is more suitable for people seeking a comprehensive business education rather than for those focusing on and sharpening a single skill.

      Hello all,   I am learning ASL through my church signing ministry.  I have been studying in the ministry for two years and I really enjoy learning the language.  I am also part of our signing choir.  I am being encouraged to begin interpreting part of our Sunday services and I want to improve my signing skills.  I saw this forum and thought this would be a good place to start.  I am looking forward to any tips and help from the community.  Bye for now!😸
