  2. Hi Ash, nice to meet you. Beginner learner here, although I know a little BSL already from having a deaf cousin
  3. Hi everyone. My name is Tom and I'm 40yrs old. I've started to learn BSL so I can communicate with my cousin who is Deaf. I know a little already but am about to start level 1 in a couple of weeks. If anyone would like to chat or practice get in touch
  4. Hello, I'm also looking for buddy to practice with.
  5. Hello everyone! I'm Natalia, I'm currently doing LVL2 BSL and looking for people to practice with. I started to learn BSL after meeting a profoundly deaf student (I'm a driving instructor) and I (and He) didn't like to communicate via messages or speech to text apps. I found BSL was better way to communicate, gave more confidence to my student and since then I found, I really enjoy to learn more. Hopefully with more time and effort I can become fluent in the future.

    Hi :)

Hiya, my name's Ash and I've wanted to learn BSL for years now and after looking up random signs on the internet I thought doing a proper course sounded good so I started a beginners course. I am not deaf myself but I am also known for my questionable hearing as I sometimes find it tough to hear what others are saying, especially in a loud area, I also have a deaf grandmother but she does not sign. I've always enjoyed using non verbal forms of communication as sometimes I find it a bit tough to express myself verbally, being neurodivergent. I hope to be able to use this to practice with people and talk to people who also want to learn as there are no in person groups anywhere near me, living in a very rural part of Britain. Nice to meet you all
  10. Oh no! I appear to have accidentally made a new topic? I couldn’t see any other way to say hello. Apologies 🤭
  11. Hi, I hope I’m doing this right? I’m brand new to BSL. I am disabled and use a wheelchair and I’ve noticed that some deaf people appear to approach me feeling safer or more understood in a group, to find someone else with disabilities or impairments. Please do correct me of I use the wrong language? But it has spurred me on to learn BSL as I do believe it should be a language offered at school and I am disappointed to see examination boards reject the idea. I thought I should put my effort where my mouth is and learn it myself. I am finding it great fun and very intuitive! Unlike Greek or Spanish languages I’ve learned in the past! Thank you all for being here. ☺️

  14. Hi there! I'm Laila and I've just started a beginners course in BSL. I work in a nursery as a senco and one to one currently but hoping to move on to a different job role in a special school or a school setting. I've been fascinated by BSL for years now and I've finally decided to take the leap and start a course so here we are! I am already level 1, 2, 3 and soon to be level 4 trained in makaton in the new year but ive always loved watching people use BSL and even though I'm not deaf i still plan on signing as i speak to myself to ensure i dont forget any of it and i just find it fun to do anyway! I am a little suspicious of my hearing anyway as it isnt the best and i do have moments where i lose hearing in one of my ears for a few minutes at a time the longest being an hour and sometimes in both ears together so I'm looking into that but im so excited to finally be a BSL user and join this community
