why bsl

Recommended Posts

A friend and i recently went to a zoo related show as exhibitors and little did i know he could sign, a lady walked past with hearing aids and he noticed her mum signing to her daughter my friend walked up and said do you mind if i speak to your daughter and then began signing the daughter was absolutely blown away that one person had taken time to talk to her.

So i think like french and German its a shame sign language is not completed at schools to provide diversity in how people communicate.

For me i have always been inspired by signing and i have wanted to do it for a long time as no one knows whats round the corner for anyone and where this skill may come in useful, my nephew also signs as he has down syndrome with speech  barriers on occasion.

i work in zoo education so i never know if there may be anyone that uses bsl as their first language

lastly its inspiring and such an expressive language
