Hello Everyone

Myself and a few other individuals have started a group chat session every Saturday 2pm (GMT). We have already had 1 session and found it very useful. For those wanting to join in on our practise sessions please dm me or comment down below. We are currently using zoom, and I will send you a link to the scheduled meeting.

If you are just a beginner don't be alarmed or think you are unable to join. I am doing this so that we can actually communicate with each other and benefit with other peoples experience and practise with BSL. On the day I will send/post the link to the meeting for everyone to join.

Come Join In!

Great, thanks.  Unfortunately I won't be able to make today's session though, so see you all next week hopefully.

@VanessaH @Shellie @Faith Odi @Jeetus Maximus Sohpal @Mariam Hey Everyone! Thank you all for your patience.

This weeks meeting has been rescheduled to Sunday 2pm. As things begin to normalise work starting up again, I will need to set future meetings in accordance to such changes. But please do contact any other people within this thread for one to one sessions on days outside the BSL meetings. See you Sunday!

@douglasmathers @Nicole H @VanessaH @Jeetus Maximus Sohpal @Mariam @Shellie @Faith Odi Hi guys. Yes the meeting is still occurring. I will be absent this week. However there are others who will be joining today. We are covering fingerspelling today to speed up and finger signs much more quickly. We have already covered questions with a small group- which continues to grow.  For all those in this thread take a look and use this code today. Next week on wards I will change the meeting codes to renew them.

    • Welcome to the forum, Jason! It's great that you've decided to learn BSL! How long have you been learning for up to now?
    • Hi, I'm Jason and I'm a student at uni : I'm learning BSL so I can communicate with and understand the deaf community more! I'm hoping to get a really good knowledge of BSL while I'm here.

    • My interest came from BSL module in uni (student paramedic) and I wanted to build on my knowledge so that I would be able to communicate with patients in the future. I also love chatting to strangers and I want to be able to do that with people who sign to!!
    • I work in commercial aviation as Senior Cabin Crew.   I wanted to learn Sign Language as we carry an increasing number of persons who identify as deaf, and I think it is an invaluable skill to have from a communication point of view. Although we have ASL and BSL capabilities via electronic QR codes on board, the ability to provide that personal and human interaction is equally important.
    • I work in research and want to learn BSL to enable more inclusivity within this field. I work with many different communities and find that the deaf community is too often overlooked. I want to address this and hopefully learn a lot myself and maybe gain some new friends.
    • Hello, I am a Clinical Research Practitioner. I recruit people to research studies mostly in hospitals but will be moving out into the wider community..
    • Hello both.  I’m also happy to practise some BSL, as with anyone on the site. Feel free to send me a message!
