Well done Stephen! Me too (almost). I took voluntary redundancy/retired last year to do more BSL  but found I needed to go back to some part-time work this year (cost of living etc!). Really enjoying the signing though and it's certainly a challenge for us oldies. 🙂

Hi Rhoda,

Thanks for the message of support and sorry to hear you have had to go back into part time work.

I did my first bit of actual signing on Saturday in the pub with the son of a mate, his son is partially deaf and signs - i think he appreciated the effort even though i wasn't that good but the look of amazement on his Dad's face and the rest of the lads was encouragement enough for me to persevere.

Keep it going Rhoda and i will even let you off for referring to us as "oldies"

    • Hello everyone. I am incredibly new to BSL (I've had one class at introductory level so far but I intend to pursue). • Hello everyone, For my introduction to British Sign Language training, I am to post here my reasons to why I am dedicated to learn BSL. My previous role was a teaching and learning assistant at a secondary school and my current role is an art instructor in a day service for adults with learning difficulties. I also volunteer with the NHS doing art sessions with long term patients. After my BA Fine Art course at the Open University, I wish to apply for a masters MSc in Art Therapy. I fe
    • Hello! I am very new here and I would like recommendations of online BSL courses where I can learn online in the evening. Cost isn’t an issue but it needs to be money well spent.  For context, am a lifelong hearing aid wearer with no BSL knowledge apart from finger spelling the alphabet… slowly.    Thanks in advance.
