Hello, my name is Reggie, and I've recently decided to learn sign language. After some unfortunate events in recent years, talking has become quite the burden on my psyche, and I do almost anything I can to avoid it. My therapist suggests that I have simply become selectively mute, which, when taken into consideration of everything that has happened and my past mental history, it rather makes sense. So, here I am, ready to learn a whole new way of speaking.

If anyone has any tips or would like to help me, that would be greatly appreciated. I am, in fact, particularly interested in video chatting and any form of conversing through sign language, since I live in a very isolated rural area and there is no one here for me to practice ASL with.

Once again, if anyone would like to or possibly could help me, that would be wonderful and I thank you.

That would be lovely, thank you. I would also love to chat with you some time in the near future as well. You may message me whenever you like, though please do not be upset if I don't answer now or right away, since I am experiencing fluctuations in the hours at my job.

Please though, do message me whenever the feeling occurs, it is not unwarranted in the least and is quite welcome. I only hope the same goes for me.

Hey Reggie!
It's great to meet you. I would love to chat with you sometime! Please feel free to send me a message on here if you're interested. My hours are also a bit strange, but I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

    • Hello,  my name is LaDonn and I have been learning ASL over the past few years.  I have taken some local classes which were extremely helpful and I love making new friends.  I also study on my own using ASL dictionaries, watching videos and recently teaming up with a fellow ASL classmate to practice when we can.  So, I was thrilled to find this site where I can actually video chat with other signers and practice with voice off.  The best way to learn is by doing.   I would love to meet both beginners like me and experienced signers, too.
    • Hi!  My name is Kendal, and I am a college student currently enrolled in ASL II. Unfortunately, online spaces are the only way I can immerse myself in the Deaf community, which is the main reason I decided to make my account. Now, onto the interview help... For my midterm project, I am required to conduct a brief interview with a deaf person. If there is anyone who fits my single criteria and is willing to participate, please let me know!
    • Hi, my name is Triceta. I am 30 years old. I am Deaf, I lost my hearing in 2023, but I have been signing for 13 years, I took ASL in highschool and just continued signing. I immersed myself in the deaf community, wanting to learn more and to practice the skills I had. Fast forward to 2020, I started having double ear infections and kept complaining of the pain, but nothing was ever done. By the time I saw a doctor who would listen to me and consulted with an ENT specialist, my hearing had already diminished in both ears.
    • Thank so much!
